With each bright and shiny new year comes the promise of a fresh start. And with the greatest of intentions to become the best versions of ourselves, we RESOLVE to change those things that we know would make our lives happier, healthier, and more meaningful: Lose weight, exercise more, quit smoking, be more loving, stop procrastinating, start meditating, and on and on the list goes.
“January 1st, it’s ON!” you declare. “Oh, but wait. That’s a Friday. No one starts their resolutions on a Friday; right? Okay. Monday, it’s ON!”
So you dust off your running shoes, create a workout music playlist, stock up your kitchen with healthy foods, buy an organizer, and you are UNSTOPPABLE…for a week or so or maybe even through February.
But sooner or later, those once-important resolutions are long gone and not to be seen again until next January. Sigh.
What the heck happened?
