Have you ever played the block-stacking/block-crashing game called "Jenga"?
Well, when I was in my early 20s, my friends and I played it almost every weekend, and I can still remember having to steady my jittering hands, nervously removing each block, ever so gently, as not to cause the entire tower to tumble down into a wooden-block heap on the table.
No one wanted to be the ONE to make a mistake, so we each focused diligently on steadily removing each block while not disturbing the rest of the tower. It was intense and fun and just a game.
Do you ever feel like your life is like that: a giant life-sized Jenga game, precariously stacked, layer by layer, to the ceiling with to-do's,expectations of being the best mom, wife, employee, boss, or friend, regret of past decisions or everything you said or should/shouldn't have said, worry about the future and its uncertainty, trying to anticipate every possible danger or distraction life can throw in your path, and fear that with one tiny slip of the finger your teetering tower will come crashing down?
If so, you're not alone. And it can be exhausting, right?! But this is what happens when we do what everyone else is doing, without inquiring within, and it can seem "normal" or "necessary," but is it? Is all that juggling and maneuvering and worrying serving you? If so, then rock on with your bad self! You're right where you need to be.
But if the effort of keeping this teetering tower standing every day feels unmanageable and overwhelming -- and you're open to gaining some perspective, then I encourage you to come along for a little detour from the norm as I guide you to do some inquiry into yourself, so you can re-connect to your inner brilliant wisdom.
Everything we need to know is already within us...ready to be revealed...when we ask the right questions and remain quiet enough to listen.
