You've probably heard it's important to drink your water, right? That our bodies are composed of about 60% water, so for our organs and cells to function optimally, we need to replenish daily -- especially in these HOT summer months!
Something you may not know is that sometimes we think we're hungry when we're actually just THIRSTY. And some doctors, like F. Batmanghelidj, M.D., author of "You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty," contend that many ailments in our bodies will resolve themselves if we simply become properly hydrated! I think that's pretty cool!
Okay. Okay. So you get it. You've heard it a million times: You need to drink water!
So are you drinking it? If not, is it possible that the only thing stopping you could be as simple as implementing a system to REMIND YOU -- not only to drink it -- but how much you've actually had by the end of the day? Well, if so, give this a try!
My general recommendation is to drink 1/2 of your body weight of water in ounces of high-quality pure water (e.g. 150 divided by 2 = 75 ounces of water per day.) This recommendation is just the average but listen to your body and test out drinking more to see you feel even better.
Here's a fool-proof way to make it happen every day (especially in these HOT summer days!)
- Calculate how much water you want to drink each day (1/2 body weight divided by 2 = water in oz.)
- Determine how many ounces your water bottle holds (some have oz on the bottle to make it easy)
- Put the number of rubber bands on your bottle to signify the number of times you need to drink the entire bottle to equal your total amount per day.
- Remove a rubber band when it’s empty then refill and repeat until all rubber bands are gone!
Here's to a happy, safe, and hydrated SUMMER!
